Whoah Fate only knows, Fate makes its plan
The informations unavailable to the mortal man
We’re workin our jobs, collect our pay
Believe were gliding down the highway, when in fact were slip sliding away
Slip sliding away, slip sliding away
You know the nearer your destination, the more you slip sliding away

With Apologies to PAUL SIMON

The third quarter pole has been rounded in the regular season marathon that leads either to the Post Season or the Lottery for each team in the Association. The Boston Celtics had a record breaking first quarter, stumbled yet righted themselves midway through the second.

However as they face the last 17 games before they will make the NBA Playoffs, they seem to be finding themselves slip sliding away from home court advantage, not only if they make it to the NBA Finals, but the Eastern Conference Finals as well. Boston now trails the Cleveland Cavaliers by 2 games in the East after losing to D-Wade and his backup band also known as the Miami Heat Wednesday 107-99. The “Green Team” decimated by injuries to key players Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo allowed the Heat to shoot 50% (40-80) from the fllor for the night. Wade led all players with 32 points in the victory.

Stephon Marbury got the start for the injured Rondo, and the rust of not playing all season was apparent with his lack of offensive game. Marbury went 0-6 from the floor 0-2 from outside the arc in 24 minutes of play. The newest member of the Green Team did dish off 4 assists had 2 steals, and only turned the ball over twice in his stint.

Time will tell if he can get his rhythm back to help the Celtics, but at this point the loss of Rondo has been deadly for the team. A two game deficit is certainly not too steep a hill for the defending NBA Champs to overcome, however one gets the feeling they are not going to accomplish it.

Both teams played well in the first with the Celtics leading at the end of the quarter 32-31. Both teams drifted off course in the second with Boston holding a 55-50 advantage at the half.

However the key quarter in this game was was the third as the Heat dominated and took an 82-73 lead at the conclusion of the quarter. Celtics bench player extraordinaire Eddie House twice drained treys to put Boston within 1 point however, they never got closer and soon fell behind never to catch up.

Dwyane Wade had a game high 32 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals while Jamario Moon put in 13 points, 8 rebounds ,3 assists, 1 block and 1 steal. Jermaine O’Neal scored 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks and 1 assist while Udonis Haslem, Mario Chalmers, and Daequan Cook each scored 10 points.

Ray Allen led the Celtics offensively with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists while Leon Powe had a double-double, 23 points and he grabbed 13 boards. Paul Pierce contributed 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal while Kendrick Perkins added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Eddie House came off the bench with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Miami has a 35-29 record, Boston is now 49-16.
