Aggies Shoot Down Cougars 79-66
Posted by Jeff Sack under Slam Dunk NCAA

Texas A&M forward Bryan Davis scored a game high 21 points and the Aggies shot a red hot 57.7% (30-52) from the floor as they defeated Brigham Young Thursday 79-66 in their first round game of the 2009 NCAA Tournament. Texas A&M built a substantial lead over the higher seeded Cougars in the first half (BYU was an 8 seed while the Aggies were a 9 seed) and were able to hold on for the win. The loss for BYU was the seventh consecutive first round exit from the Tournament. The Aggies also defeated the Cougars last year in the first round.
Texas A&M pulled out to a 42-30 lead at the end of the first half. BYU never really challenged the Aggies at all after the two teams returned to the floor for the second half. Jimmer Fredette led the way for the Cougars with 18 points. Texas A&M will next play Saturday against Connecticut.
