Gonzaga Bulldogs guard Matt Bouldin dropped 21 points, and guard Jeremy Pargo came off the bench with 18 more as the Bulldogs won a nail-biter over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Saturday 83-81. Gonzaga won the contest with 0.9 seconds on the clock as freshman guard Demetri Goodson went end to end across the hardwood and banked in the winning bucket. With the victory Gonzaga heads to the “Sweet Sixteen“  as they will match-up against UNC next Friday.

After the lead volleyed back and forth in the opening minutes of the contest the Hilltoppers took the lead for the remainder of the half  at 17-14 with 12:11 to play when Orlando Mendez-Valdez connected on a trey. Western Kentucky would walk into the locker room at the half with a slim 37-35 advantage.

Gonzaga would grab the lead early in the fourth and would soon be on top at 46-40 with 18:32 to play as Jeremy Pargo knocked down a three point shot.  Hilltoppers swing-man Sergio Kerusch went to work out scoring the Bulldogs 7-1 on his own and the game was knotted up at 47-47 with 17:o4 remaining.  Gonzaga would take back the lead but never by a margin greater than 7 points. Western Kentucky then would rally and either tie the score or briefly go ahead. with the contest deadlocked at 81-81 and less than a second to go Demetri Goodson became a hero.  

Hilltoppers guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez led all players with 25 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Western Kentucky guard A.J. Slaughter added 24 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. The Bulldogs have now won 11 straight games.
