The “Arizona Republic” Monday that Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash is unsure of his future with the franchise. Phoenix right now is in a state of flux as they seem to be on the cusp between the team that has made them a legitimate force in the Western Conference up until this season or starting back at square one. The team has been the subject of headlines for about the past week concerning their roster.

Last week reports surfaced that Phoenix had approached the Memphis Grizzlies before the trading deadline about a deal that would have sent All-Star Amare Stoudemire to Memphis. According to the reports the Suns wanted Rudy Gay, Hakim Warrick, Michael Conley and a number one draft in return. Reports out of Memphis indicate that the Grizzlies tried to alter the deal to make it work but to on avail.

Veteran center Shaquille O’Neal who is going into last year of his contract next season questioned whether Suns  Team Owner Robert Sarver had a win at all cost mentality. Another veteran who becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season Grant Hill stated last week he would like to re-sign with Phoenix if they are committed to winning.

Nash is also going into the last year of his deal next season. He told reporters he is not really sure what direction the team is going to head in. Nash would like to play another four seasons and told reporters “I still want to make it work in Phoenix.”

Nash says he is planning on discussing the situation with Sarver and Team President Steve Kerr. The two time NBA MVP said “My first priority is to sit down and listen to Steve and Robert and hear what their wish is and what their plan is for the team. I can be a part of us revamping here. I’m under the impression they want to talk an extension, and I do, too. Hopefully we can find ourselves in a position where we can revamp and be back in the playoffs and hopefully be a contender. Hopefully I’ll be a part of the plan.”
