Balanced Scoring Helps Spurs Destroy Undermanned Warriors 101-72

San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker

The San Antonio Spurs, in their game against the Golden State Warriors on Monday, did not shoot very well at all; 43.5%, to be exact.  But then again, they didn’t have to as the Warriors did much worse at 34.1%.  Call it bad shooting by Golden State or stellar defense by San Antonio – it was probably the latter – but nonetheless, the end result was rather predictable as the Spurs throttled the Warriors at Oracle Arena 101-72.

San Antonio outscored Golden State in every quarter, save the fourth; they also dominated in all of the meaningful categories, as well.  But to be fair, the Warriors were very shorthanded as they only had 7 healthy players (NBA rules dictate that 8 players suit up).

San Antonio’s high scorer was Drew Gooden from off the bench with 20 points and 15 rebounds while Tony Parker added 17 with 5 rebounds and 2 assists; Tim Duncan chipped in 16 with 13 rebounds and 4 assists.

Golden State was led by Anthony Randolph with a career-high 24 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and a block while C.J. Watson added 18 with 5 rebounds, an assist and a block.  San Antonio (53-28) finishes their regular season as they return home to host the New Orleans Hornets while Golden State (29-52) completes their regular season when they travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns – also on Wednesday night.
