Later on today, according to Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Cleveland Cavaliers are scheduling a news conference at which team coach Mike Brown is expected to win the NBA Coach of the Year award – although the NBA and the team have refused to confirm the announcement.
Assuming this is the case, Brown would be only the second coach in team history to win the coveted award (the first being Bill Fitch in 1976); this season, Brown led the Cavaliers to a franchise-record 66 wins, its first division title in 33 years and their first ever #1 seeding in the playoffs.
Back in February, Brown became the second coach in team history to coach in the NBA All-Star Game; he was also named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month three times. Slam Dunk Central will keep you up to date with any additional developments, should they become available.
