Parker Explodes For 38, Spurs Blast Mavericks 105-84

San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker

After being embarrassed at home by the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, the San Antonio Spurs obviously had to regroup and regain their focus as they had to face them yet again on Monday.  And face them they did.  I would be speculating as to what happened, but whatever the Spurs did prior to tipoff obviously worked as Tony Parker offensively exploded for 38 points, leading San Antonio to the relatively easy 105-84 win over Dallas – tying the series at 1-1.

This happened to be one of those games where the score didn’t truly reflect how lopsided the game actually was.  San Antonio, thanks to Parker, was able to enjoy a big first and third quarter which enabled them to easily dismantle Dallas at will.  Despite the many different guard combinations that the Mavericks threw at Parker, he easily slipped through them.  Simply wasn’t the Mavericks’ day.

San Antonio’s high scorer was the aforementioned Parker with 38 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals while Tim Duncan and Drew Gooden chipped in 13 each – with Duncan grabbing 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks.

Dallas was led by Jason Terry from off the bench with 16 points, 2 rebounds, an assist and a steal while Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd added 14 each – with Nowitzki grabbing 6 rebounds, dishing out 3 assists along with 2 steals while Kidd grabbed 4 boards, dished out 5 assists along with 3 steals and a block.  Both teams return to Dallas for Game 3 on Thursday.
