Dwight Howard paid yet another appearance to the most exclusive lodge in the NBA  the “Club 20-20“ Tuesday night and it resulted in a victory for the Orlando Magic at the Amway Arena over the Philadelphia 76ers by the score of 91-78. “Superman” recorded a double-double consisting of 24 points and grabbing 24 boards as Orlando grabbed a 3-2 lead in their first round Eastern Conference Playoff series. Rashard Lewis also added 24 points for the Magic while the Sixers were led by Andre Iguodala with a game high 26 points.

Regular readers of this page have seen this sentiment many times before; when it comes to the NBA in 2009 there is Dwight Howard and then comes every other center in the Association. Howard could have gone toe to toe with Wilt and Russ; there is not another man who plays the pivot right now in the NBA that could make that same claim. “Superman” when he gets into the mind set of take no prisoners as he was in Tuesday night is an unstoppable force.

The first 12 minutes of the game was hotly contested as Orlando would hold a razor thin 21-20 advantage at the end of the period. The Magic were able to get a bit further ahead as the contest reached the half walking into the locker room on top 45-39.

Philadelphia stayed within hailing distance throughout the third quarter but never really close enough to challenge as they trailed 69-60 as the period concluded. The Sixers were never able to get any closer than 4 points down in the final quarter.

Dwight Howard scored 24 points, grabbed 24 boards, 2 blocks, 1 assist and 1 steal while Rashard Lewis also put 24 points on the board, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Rafer Alston who replaced the injured Jameer Nelson when he was acquired from Houston in a mid-season trade added 14 points, 4 assists, 1 rebound and 1 steal.

Andre Iguodala had a game high 26 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal in the loss. Andre Miller scored 17 points, 6 assists, 4 steals and 3 rebounds while Willie Green added 16 points and 2 rebounds. Game six will be back in Philadelphia Thursday night.
