The Chicago Bulls live to fight another day after forcing a game seven Thursday night defeating the Boston Celtics in triple-overtime 128-127. John Salmons led the way for the Bulls with 35 points while rookie Derrick Rose put up 28 points and Brad Miller came off the bench with 23 more. Chicago would get the victory despite a monster game by Celtics All-Star guard Ray Allen who knocked down a game high 51 points.

The Bulls came roaring out of the chute in the first quarter in front of the home crowd at the United Center grabbing a 37-26 advantage at the end of the period. Boston was able to whittle down Chicago’s lead during the second however the Bulls still walked into the locker room at the half on top 59-57.

Chicago once again had momentum on their side in the third and led 83-76 as the quarter concluded. The Celtics tied the contest with 6:43 to play in the fourth as Ray Allen drained a three point shot 28 feet from the basket and the score was knotted up at 91-91.

Boston appeared to be on the verge of putting the game away and wrapping up the series with 3:38 on the clock and Paul Pierce connected on a trey giving his team a 99-91 advantage. Things would not work out so simply for the Celtics as Brad Miller drove the lane putting the ball up and in and sending the game into overtime with the score 101-101.

The two opponents exchanged the lead throughout the first extra period. Boston led 109-107  however a John Salmons layup would once again tie the score and send the game into the second extra period. The Bulls would hold a 3 point advantge with 7 seconds on the clock when Ray Allen knocked down a trey putting the score at 118-118 and the two teams went to a third overtime. Brad Miller who had the chance to tie the game Tuesday night but missed a pair at the line this time got the deed done to give Chicago the victory.

John Salmons had 35 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists while rookie Derrick Rose put 28 points on the scoreboard, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 1 block. Brad Miller came up with 23 points, grabbed 10 boards, 2 blocks and 1 assist while Ben Gordon scored 12 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds. Kirk Hinrich added 11 points, 7 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block.

Ray Allen knocked down 51 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals while Glen Davis had 23 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assists and 1 steal. Paul Pierce scored 22 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block while Kendrick Perkins had a double-double with 12 points, 13 boards, 4 blocks and 3 assists. The final game of the series will be played Saturday at the “New Garden” in Boston.
