I have no idea if it is because the position isn’t exactly a coveted one, but the job of head of basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves is still vacant; as of this writng, it is still vacant, according to the Pioneer Press.

While the team is still looking for a qualified person – and I use that term “qualified” loosely – one thing is for certain: former Miami Heat general manager Randy Pfund will not be among the candidates as he has dropped out of the running.  His rationale?

“I’m moving on from the Wolves situation. I’ve got a couple other things out there that maybe intrigue me a little more, either this year or next year.”

It sure sounds like an indirect diss of the T-Wolves with that statement to me.  In any case, a few candidates remain for the job – candidates such as: Portland Trail Blazers assistant general manager Tom Penn, former Indiana Pacers general manager David Kahn along with current Timberwolves  assistant GM Fred Hoiberg and GM Jim Stack.  When future developments become available, Slam Dunk Central will bring them to you.
