Clippers Get Top Spot In NBA Draft
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Draft Lottery, NBA News

The Los Angeles Clippers will be selecting first in the 2009 NBA Draft this June as they won the top spot in the NBA Draft Lottery Tuesday night. The Lottery was shown live on ESPN at the half-time break of the first game of the Western Conference Finals. The Memphis Grizzlies got the second slot followed by the Oklahoma City Thunder who will draft third. The Sacramento Kings who had the worst record in the Association dropped to the fourth spot followed by the Washington Wizards at number five and the Minnesota Timberwolves having the sixth pick.
The rest of the Lottery shakes out this way; the Golden State Warriors, the New York Knickerbockers, the Toronto Raptors, and the Milwaukee Bucks. Rounding out the Lottery choices are the New Jersey Nets, the Charlotte Bobcats, the Indiana Pacers and the Phoenix Suns.
Clippers Team President Andy Roesser made it seem like his team was leaning heavily towards using the pick to take Oklahoma forward Blake Griffin. Roesser told reporters “I think five years from now Blake Griffin will be hitting his stride in the NBA and he will be an impact player wherever he is. He is an athletic player. He can do all sorts of things and has a ton of talent, and I think any team will be happy to have him.”
