Well folks, it’s that time of year again, when the NBA prospects are just chomping at the bit – and drooling at the prospect of a all-of-a-sudden fatter financial bottom line. What I am referring to folks is the 2009 NBA draft. A draft that by and large, save for the center position, is relatively deep. One thing can be said – other than the Los Angeles Clippers pick at #1, nothing is set in stone.
As of today, I will do a breakdown of the 30 teams participating in the 2009 NBA draft; I will assess their needs, their weaknesses and ultimately, who I predict the team in question will draft. Without further adieu, let the punditry begin!!
Los Angeles Clippers
Strengths: Point guard, small forward
Weaknesses: Center
Inside Skinny: Funny thing about these Clippers. Notoriously bad nearly year-in and year-out, their roster isn’t as bad as their record indicates. Perhaps their dubious free agent choices have sealed their fate most years. I fully expect Los Angeles to rid themselves of Zach Randolph (can you blame them?) and either Marcus Camby or Chris Kaman. Seems like the Clips can’t keep a healthy frontcourt and from a financial standpoint, it makes no sense to keep Randolph, Camby and Kaman. Nonetheless, the Clips will keep their #1 pick – and actually take the only player in the draft worthy of that lofty position.
The Los Angeles Clippers select: Blake Griffin, Oklahoma
