Slam Dunk Central 2009 NBA Mock Draft

The Golden State Warriors, at #7, are on the clock.  With the changing of the guard in Oakland, perhaps this is the chance for the new management team to make an immediate splash.

Golden State Warriors

Strengths: Shooting guard, small forward

Weaknesses: Center

Inside Skinny: Any team that has Don Nelson as their coach will certainly be a speedy club, by and large.  This draft and the Warriors’ pick at #7 will reflect Nellie’s mentality in that respect.  And since there are no true centers remaining (Thabeet will be long gone). they’ll do the expected – draft small.

The Golden State Warriors select: Stephen Curry, Davidson

The play of Biedrins, Turiaf and Randolph was the high point of last year. Center is not what we need and never is a focus of Nellie Ball. We need better defense out of our backcourt and better ball movement. Stephen Curry is probably the last player we’d draft. There is no way he plays alongside Monta.

Biedrins has been one of the most effective centers in the league especially with his blocks and rebounding and Turiaf was a nice surprise when he stepped in during Biedrins absence. We need someone to truely RUN the point the way Tim Hardaway used to and Baron also did.We should try to get Baron back if the Clips would eat some of that contract. We definitely are deep in many positions but unfortunately alot of good players and no stars. Don’t get me wrong,I love the Warriors but we need a point guard BAD and Ellis is not the answer. He needs to stay at his position.
