The most pertinent question remaining in the NBA season may now be when Kobe Bryant meets President Obama at the White House will it eventually lead to a meeting on the hardwood? The Los Angeles Lakers are now just one victory away from that White House visit after defeating the Orlando Magic Thursday in overtime by a final score of 99-91. The win in game four of the NBA Finals gives the Lakers a commanding 3-1 series lead; it was also the first time in the series that a victory was secured on an opponents floor. The “Black Mamba” led Los Angeles with a game high 32 points while Hedo Turkoglu knocked down 25 points for the Magic.

It was the third time in four contests that Los Angeles held Orlando center under 20 points and the second time in the series that Rashard Lewis did not show up on the offensive end. The loss leaves the Magic on life support for the balance of the Finals as their next loss will send them home for the season.

Orlando took the upper hand at the end of the first as they were on top 24-20 at the end of the quarter. They looked as if they were on the verge of putting the game away at the half as they walked off the court leading 49-37.

The Magic returned to the court for the third quarter however they left their game still inside the locker room. Los Angeles increased their intensity at both end of the floor and as the period concluded they now held a 67-63 advantage. Orlando would tie the contest with 5:37 to play at 95-95 when Mickael Pietrus drove the lane putting the ball up and in. The Magic would hold a 5 point lead at 87-82 with 1:34 left in the period as Hedo Turkoglu knocked down a mid-range jumper.

The Lakers sent the game into the extra period when veteran point guard Derek Fisher drained a 26 foot trey and leaving the game deadlocked at 87-87 with 4 seconds on the clock. Rashard Lewis opened up the overtime with a three point shot giving Orlando a quick 90-87 lead. But the momentum soon went in the direction of Los Angeles as they closed out the game on a 12-1 run.

Kobe Bryant led all player with 32 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds 1 block and 1 steal while Pau Gasol recorded a double-double with 16 points, 10 boards, 1 assist and 1 steal. Trevor Ariza also scored 16 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals while Derek Fisher added 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist.

Hedo Turkoglu scored 25 points for the Magic, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal while Dwight Howard recorded yet another double-double with 16 points, 21 boards, 9 blocks and 2 assists. Mickael Pietrus had another big game off the bench with 15 points and 2 rebounds while Rafer Alston added 11 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound and 1 steal. Game five the last game to be played in Orlando will be Sunday with Los Angeles holding a 3-1 series lead.
