Blazers, Mavs Trade Draft Picks

The NBA version of “Let’s Make A Deal” continued on Thursday as according to Chad Ford of ESPN, the Portland Trail Blazers picked up the #22 pick from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for the 24th and 56th picks in this year’s NBA draft along with the worst of Portland’s second round picks next year.

Interesting to note that Portland moved up a couple spots; lots of reasons abound, for certain.  There are rumors that the Sacramento Kings were high on Omri Casspi with their #23 pick; with their pick at #22, Portland should have some decent players to choose from, including Casspi, Florida guard Nick Calathes, Pittaburgh’s DeJuan Blair (I think he’s gone by then), Georgetown’s DeJuan Summers and Virginia Commonwealth’s Eric Maynor.

Meanwhile, with the trade, Dallas gets some additional picks in this draft along with an extra pick in 2010; it will be interesting to see who the Mavericks take with #24.
