Nets Deal Carter To Magic

As I reported earlier today, the rumor of Vince Carter leaving New Jersey had intensified; well folks, the deal is confirmed, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.  The deal in question is Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson going to the Orlando Magic for Rafer Alston, Tony Battie and Courtney Lee; the deal was confirmed earlier today by league executives.

The transaction will free the Nets of approximately 3 years and $52 million left on Carter’s contract; only about $4 million of the $18 million in his final year is guaranteed.  I think it is safe to assume now that with this trade being finalized, it is highly unlikely that the Magic will re-sign Hedo Turkoglu.  The Nets, because they’re in rebuild mode, got an up-and-comer in Lee while Alston and Battie can be considered tools for salary cap relief.
