For those that were either hoping to sign forward Rasheed Wallace or maybe not have to play him as he would join a Western Conference team – your out of luck. Wallace, an early possible free agent that the Cavaliers had on their short list, has agreed in terms to a two-year deal with the Boston Celtics, this according to the Boston Globe.
“Once (Wallace) had a chance to reflect on everything, and realizing what his objectives are, he just decided this was the best fit for him, all the way around,” said Bill Strickland, Wallace’s agent.
The Globe reports that Wallace will receive a two-year deal using the mid-level exception (expected to be about $5.6 million to $5.8 million). The Cavs were thought to have some interest in Wallace, but some said it was not very serious, and one report was the Cavaliers had no interest by the time he visited Boston.
Wallace was also getting interest from Orlando and San Antonio. The signing gives the Celtics another tough player to go along with their already very good All-Star trio of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce.
