Reports Say Powe Will Sign With Cavaliers
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Free Agents, NBA News

According to reports the Cleveland Cavaliers may be on the verge of getting quite a bit deeper in their front-court rotation. “ESPN.com” is reporting that former Boston Celtics big man Leon Powe will sign a two year deal with the Cavaliers said to be worth $1.77 million. The reports state that the first year of the contract would be guaranteed and Cleveland would have a club option for the second year of the pact. Reportedly Powe was in Cleveland on Tuesday having his left knee examined by team doctors. Powe was lost for the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee as the Celtics played the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
If Powe comes back fully healthy he would be quite an addition to a Cleveland squad that has already added veteran center Shaquille O’Neal and forward Jamario Moon to the mix. With the return of Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Anderson Varejao if Powe is able to be the force off the bench he was for Boston Cleveland will be right along side the Celtics for the best in the Eastern Conference.
