The talk started shortly after the NBA Finals ended in 2008; LeBron James would end up leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers to pursue the “Bright Lights of Broadway” and sign a deal with the New York Knicks. There have been many many times since then that I have felt like a voice in the wilderness as I have tried my best to convince  you that LeBron would not sign with New York and would sign on for another tour of duty with the Cavaliers. At times it is like being the only human to believe that the planet is round instead of flat!

Well maybe you will be a little bit more convinced  after you read the following. Reigning NBA MVP and Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star forward has told the “Associated Press” that his desire is to commit to Cleveland long term. LBJ can opt-out of his contract next summer and test the Free Agent waters  if he chooses to. But the man who put his childhood home of Akron, Ohio on the map appears to want to stay right where he is.

The “Chosen One” told reporters “I’m excited about the upcoming season and I have never given any indication that I’m leaving Cleveland. I’ve been happy with what the franchise has done for me and my family. It’s been great. Hopefully everything goes right and hopefully I can sign a big contract to stay in Cleveland.”

Now is this going to quiet all the conjecture and rumors about whether LBJ will sign a long term deal? Of course not as I am writing this there are most likely three other reporters writing the polar opposite of what you find on this page. But I have been consistent in my belief that “King James” will re-sign a long term pact with the Cavaliers and this statement just further reinforces  my convictions.
