Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Preseason

Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star and reigning NBA MVP LeBron James looked like he was still in MVP form Tuesday night as he scored 15 points in just 15 minutes of playing time as the Cavaliers defeated the Charlotte Bobcats 92-87. It was the first preseason contest of the year for the Cavaliers who played in their home Q Arena in Cleveland giving the hometown crowd a reason to go home smiling. Second year forward J.J. Hickson also scored 15 points in the game for Cleveland as he came off the bench and played just 16 minutes.
It was also the home debut for the “Diesel” new Cavaliers center Shaquille O’Neal who got a huge greeting from his new fans when he was introduced in the starting lineup. Shaq also played 16 minutes in the first exhibition game and finished with 6 points, 3 rebounds and 1 block in his Cleveland debut.
The Bobcats were led by second year point guard D.J. Augustin who came in off of the bench and knocked down 12 points, 6 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds. Nazr Mohammed who started for Tyson Chandler who is recovering from an ankle injury led the Charlotte starters as he scored 10 points and had 8 rebounds in the game.

Its going to be hard for other teams to deal with the Cavaliers if Shaq and LeBron stay healthy all season. Still not sure it will get them a championship, but still an imposing pair to go against.
Allan,
I truly see it as a two team race, Boston and Cleveland. At this point I have to give the edge to the Celtics, but the Cavaliers will be right there!
