As if the Minnesota Timberwolves needed another jinx thrown their way, they cannot catch a break – pun semi-intended – as the Associated Press is reporting that second year forward Kevin Love will miss about six weeks due to a broken hand.
Love incurred the injury during Friday’s preseason loss to the Chicago Bulls when he banged his hand against teammate Oleksiy Pecherov’s elbow attempting to go after a rebound on a missed throw late in the third quarter; results from the X-rays indicated a break of the fourth metatarsal bone on his non-shooting hand.
He hopes to make his regular season debut sometime in either late November or early December. It should be interesting to see who will take Love’s place in the T-Wolves lineup; considering that powwr forward is not exactly a position of strength for this franchise, rookie head coach Kurt Rambis will definitely get the proverbial “baptism-by-fire.”
Depending on who gets released by the team, I suspect that the following will vie for K-Love’s minutes: Brian Cardinal or Pecherov. My money’s on Pecherov, albeit under unusual circumstances.
