Wizards Will Be Without Jamison For 3-5 Weeks!
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Injuries
Earlier this month in my rundown of the NBA Southeast Division I wrote that if all the teams in that division remained healthy there was a good possibility of all five teams making the NBA Playoffs. Two of the five teams have already suffered significant injuries. The Charlotte Bobcats could be without guard Raja Bell if he undergoes surgery to repair a partially torn tendon in his left wrist for up to four months. The Washington Wizards who have been plagued by injuries for the last few years have been bitten once again by the injury bug. The “Associated Press” is reporting that All-Star forward Antawn Jamison will miss the next 3-5 weeks recovering from a partially dislocated right shoulder.
Jamison hurt himself trying to block a shot by Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas as his team beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 109-104 in an exhibition game. The injury will cost the forward anywhere between 8-13 games if he comes back within the projected time frame.
The 33 year old forward who has 11 seasons in the NBA stressed the length of the NBA campaign when talking with reporters. Jamison said “The most important thing is it’s a long season. We’ve got some guys who we added to the team and can help us out. I’ve just got to do what I’ve got to do as far as rehab and get ready as quickly as possible.”
The Wizards power forward says he is going to follow his doctors advice. He told reporters “The biggest thing for me is to, even though I feel great, still continue to work, still stick with somewhat of a timetable. I feel good. I’ve been lifting, dribbling the ball. They won’t let me shoot yet, but I’m doing whatever the doctors tell me to do. But I feel pretty good.”
