Curry To Join Ellis In Warriors Starting Lineup Opening Night

In typical fashion, Golden State Warriors is looking for scoring, with defense being an afterthought. At least that’s how it will be for the beginning of the 2009-10 NBA campaign for the team as Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Nelson has decided to start rookie Stephen Curry alongside Monta Ellis in the Warriors’ backcourt in their season opener against the Houston Rockets.

Apparently, Curry won the job Thursday night against the Hornets, scoring 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 10 assists. According to Nelson:

“Right now, anybody who plays with Curry looks good, because he sees the floor and finds them. I would think Monta should love it.”

Nelson also added that Ellis would play the point in stretches when playing alongside anthony Morrow; but for right now, it looks like Curry will play the most minutes at the 1. This is definitely a “baptism by fire” for Curry, so definitely the pressure is on for the rookie.
