Unlike their game on Wednesday night in Toronto when they lost to the Raptors the Cleveland Cavaliers did not show a lackadaisical attitude on the floor at the start of the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves Friday. The Cavaliers were all business on Friday night showing intensity on both ends of the floor from the opening tip. With that kind of an attitude their natural ability took over as they won in a rout over Minnesota by a score of 100-85.  Cleveland grabbed a healthy lead at the end of the first quarter and never let up getting their first victory of the campaign after suffering two defeats to open the season.

The Cavaliers had five players in double figures led of course by the “Chosen One” Lebron James who led all players with 24 points. Cleveland also got strong efforts out of Mo Williams and Anderson Varejao in the starting line-up. The “Ancient Warrior” Zydrunas Ilgauskas showed he still has some fuel left in his tank coming off the bench while reserve guard Daniel Gibson had a big game as well.

Timberwolves point guard Jonny Flynn has after two games showed that he can play in the NBA as he led his club with 17 points. An obviously hurting Al Jefferson and Corey Brewer were the only other players on the club to get into double figures. If Minnesota plays like they did Friday night against the rest of the Association there will be a whole bunch of losing steaks ending in their arena.

Cleveland came out on fire in the first and would hold a 7 point advantage over their opponents at the end of the first 25-18.  The Timberwolves did find their shooting touch in the second quarter. Unfortunately for them Cleveland still had a better period and the Cavaliers would walk into the locker room at the half leading 57-47.

Minnesota did absolutely nothing to help their cause in the third quarter and would trail Cleveland heading in to the final 12 minutes of play trailing 83-68. If there was any hope at all among T-Wolves fans that their team could stage a fourth quarter rally those hopes were quickly extinguished. The Cavaliers just dominated the first few minutes of the quarter as the Timberwolves fell further and further behind. Minnesota started to score late in the quarter but it was far too little and far too late.

LeBron James just missed a double-double as he dropped 24 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal and 1 block in the Cavaliers victory. Point guard Mo Williams had a very big night putting 20 points in the hole, 6 assists and 2 rebounds while Zydrunas Ilgauskas had a nice game coming off the bench with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Daniel Gibson also was a key contributor off the bench as he has 14 points, 3 steals, 2 assists and 1 rebound while Anderson Varejao recorded a double-double adding 13 points, 11 boards, 3 steals and 2 assists.

Jonny Flynn after two games appears to be the real deal as the Timberwolves point led the club with 17 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Al Jefferson sored 12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block while Corey Brewer added 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals and 1 assist. Cleveland now is 1-2 they will play Saturday as the host the Charlotte  Bobcats. Minnesota now falls to a record of 1-1 they travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns Sunday.
