Celtics Slaughter Bulls 118-90 Start off Season 3-0!
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Game Recap

The Boston Celtics shot 58.1% (43-74) from the floor and 50% from behind the arc (12-24) for the game Friday night as they hosted the Chicago Bulls at the “New Garden.” You do not lose too many games shooting those kind of numbers and the “Green Team” did not even break a sweat as they simply beat on the Bulls like Ricky Ricardo used to beat on the conga drum winning by a score of 118-90. Paul Pierce and Eddie House led all players with 22 points apiece. The Celtics had five players who scored in double figures; as well as Rajon Rondo who scored just 2 points but dished off 16 assists. The Celtics have started off the season 3-0.
The Bulls really did not play that badly but they were never a credible threat to even challenge Boston in the game. Although the game was close after the first period the Celtics broke it open in the second and the third and the final 12 minutes might as well not have been played. Chicago center Joakim Noah led his club with a double-double scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 boards.
The two teams both played well in the first as the Celtics had a slim 21-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. However Boston put it into the next gear in the second; oustcoring the Bulls 29-18 in the period and walked into the locker room at the half with an imposing 50-35 advantage.
The Celtics were just getting warmed up and though Chicago did shoot better in the third quarter; they fell much further behind. Boston outscored them 38-26 in the third quarter and would head into the final 12 minutes leading 88-61. The fourth quarter was just extended garbage time.
Boston was led by Paul Pierce who had 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals while Eddie House had a tremendous night coming off the bench with 22 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist in the Boston victory. Ray Allen scored 20 points for Boston while “The Big Ticket” Kevin Garnett added 16 more. Shelden Williams came off the pine for Boston and recorded a double-double as he put in 10 points, 10 boards, 2 assists and 2 blocks.
Joakim Noah led the way for the Bulls as he also had a double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks. Point guard Jannero Pargo came off the bench and added 13 points while Derrick Rose, Tyrus Thomas and Kirk Hinrich each scored 10 points. The Celtics are off to a 3-0 start and will host the New Orleans Hornets Sunday night. Chicago is now 1-1 and they will head to Miami to take on the Heat Sunday.
