Kings Remain Winless, Crushed By Spurs 113-94
Posted by Stephen Rhodes under NBA Game Recap

I think it is safe to say that the Sacramento Kings are a team which can be described as a work in progress. up to this juncture, they have had their moments, flashing bits of promise, yet no real positive results as of yet. Enter Saturday night as they visited the AT&T Center to take on the San Antonio Spurs. They managed to be competitive for the first 12 minutes of te game, but the Spurs’ guard duo of Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili exploited the Kings’ youth and inexperience as they enabled San Antonio to rout Sacramento 113-94,
As previously noted, the Kings were competitive during the first quarter as they managed to hang with the Spurs, going into the second quarter down by only seven. But the beginning of the end for Sacramento began during the second quarter. San Antonio slowly began to pull away at around the 7:17 mark of the period when rookie DeJuan Blair stole an inbounds pass and made a layup to start a 19-6 run, of which the Kings would never recover.
San Antonio would pile it on in the third quarter as they would increase their lead to 21, led by Parker’s 8 points. As a result, the Spurs would coast to the easy victory.
Parker led all Spurs scorers with 24 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals while Richard Jefferson added 21 with 2 rebounds and a steal; George Hill came off the bench to score 15 with 5 rebounds, an assist, a steal and 2 blocks.
The Kings had only two players in double-digits, led by Kevin Martin with 26 points and a steal while reserve Spencer Hawes added 22 with 10 rebounds. San Antonio (2-1) plays again on Thursdasy when they visit Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Jazz while Sacramento (0-3) doesn’t play again until Monday when they host the Memphis Grizzlies.
