Boozer’s Double-Double Leads Utah’s Drubbing Of Spurs 113-99

The Utah Jazz shot a torrid 53% (44-83) from the floor Thursday night taking a big lead over the San Antonio Spurs in the first quarter and never allowing their opponents to get back in the game as they would beat up the Spurs 113-99. Jazz All-Star Carlos Boozer led the way for his team with a double-double including a game high 27 points and pulling down 14 boards while point guard Deron Williams also added 27 points in the victory. The win stopped a two game slide by Utah who totally dominated this contest.
Tony Parker was the leading scorer for the Spurs with 21 points while Tim Duncan would record a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. However San Antonio fell behind in the first and were never able to recover the rest of the night.
Utah broke out on top leading 32-22 at the conclusion of the first period and for all intent and purposes the game was over right then and there. The two teams played each other to a draw in the second and the Jazz would head into the locker room at the half leading San Antonio 60-50.
Both teams shot very well in the third quarter unfortunately for the Spurs though Utah shot just a tad better and heading into the final 12 minutes of play the Jazz led 93-80. San Antonio at no time during the fourth was any kind of legitimate threat.
Carlos Boozer would score 27 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals while Deron Williams had 27 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal. Andrei Kirilenko and Wes Matthews each scored 12 points apiece for Utah while Mehmet Okur and Ronnie Brewer each added 10 points.
Tony Parker led San Antonio with 21 points and 3 assists while Tim Duncan had 15 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 assists. Richard Jefferson and DeJuan Blair scored 14 points apiece for the Spurs while Manu Ginobili added 11 more in the loss. Utah improves to a 2-3 record and will host the Sacramento Kings Saturday. San Antonio now stands at 2-2 and head to Portland to face the Trail Blazers Friday.
