Revenge Is Sweet! Cavaliers Pummel Orlando 102-93!

In this era of Free Agency and so many players sharing the same Agents there are not that many games you can point to on the NBA docket and say that game is a revenge match-up. This one however was without a shadow of a doubt. The last time the Orlando Magic played the Cleveland Cavaliers was the contest that gave the Magic the Eastern Conference Title and a trip to the NBA Finals. Cavaliers All-Star forward LeBron James told reporters the next day it felt like he had been beaten up.
Well this game had nowhere near the importance of their last meeting; however Cleveland would walk away with “First Blood” in their season series against the Magic as they won Wednesday night in Orlando 102-93. The final score is in no way an indication of how Cleveland totally dominated their opponents in the first three quarters. LeBron James led all player with a game high 36 points while Vince Carter led Orlando with 29 points.
However the reason the Cleveland Cavaliers traded for Shaquille O’Neal last summer was to try to neutralize Orlando All-Star center Dwight Howard. Round one was a success for the Cavaliers as D-Howard was saddled with foul trouble early and ended up scoring just 11 points and grabbing just 7 rebounds. If “The Diesel” can do that all season and possibly into the Playoffs then Cleveland has gained the upper hand on the Magic. The victory also puts the Cavaliers two games over the .500 mark for the first time this season.
Cleveland started out smoking offensively grabbing a 35-28 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Cavaliers doubled their lead in the second and would walk into the locker room at the half with a 66-51 advantage. Orlando fell even further behind in the third and trailed heading into the final 12 minutes of play by a score of 88-68. The final quarter was just extended garbage time.
LeBron James had 36 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal in the Cavaliers victory. Mo Williams had a strong night scoring 28 points, 6 assists, 1 block, 1 rebound and 1 steal while Shaquille O’Neal added 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 assist.
Vince Carter looked like he was back in prime form as he scored 29 points, 1 assist, 1 block and 1 steal while Jameer Nelson had 19 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Dwight Howard would add 11 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal while J.J. Redick came off the bench with 10 points and 3 rebounds. Cleveland now with a record of 5-3 will travel down the coast of Florida and head to Miami to take on the Heat Thursday night. Orlando is now 6-3 and will ply host to the New Jersey Nets Friday night.
