Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Game Recap

The Indiana Pacers shot a red hot 52.6% (40-76) from the floor, 50% (9-18) from outside the arc and had six players in double figures Saturday night as they defeated the Boston Celtics 113-104. Danny Granger and Dahntay Jones led the way for the Pacers with a game high 29 points for Granger while Jones added 25 more.
This was the first time all season the Celtics had lost consecutive games after falling to the Atlanta Hawks Friday night. Boston also had six players in double figures led by Ray Allen with 24; and a healthy lead heading into the half. But the third quarter in this game was the deciding period as the Pacers rose up while the Celtics stumbled around. For the second night in a row veteran sixth man Rasheed Wallace was not an asset for Boston coming off the pine with just 4 points and 0 rebounds.
During the first half it appeared that the Celtics would avoid the dreaded “Hangover Loss” after having their winning streak ended by the Hawks on Friday. Boston would have a razor thin advantage at the end of the first as they would be on top 27-26. The Celtics had a much more substantial cushion when they would head into the locker room at the half leading 61-52.
The Pacers made their run late in the third trailing Boston 79-77 with a 1:44 left in the period. Brandon Rush made two key shots at the end of the period and Indiana found themselves on top heading into the fourth 84-79. The Celtics opened the final period on a 9-2 run and would take an early 88-86 advantage. That was their last stand as the Pacers would take the lead shortly there after and never surrender it the rest of the night.
Danny Granger led the way for the Pacers with 29 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block while Dahntay Jones added 25 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 1 block. Earl Watson would put up 12 points, 7 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 blocks while center Roy Hibbert put 11 points on the score sheet, 4 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block. Brandon Rush and T.J. Ford each had 10 points in the Pacers victory.
Ray Allen led the Celtics offense with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce scored 15 points apiece in the Celtics loss. Center Kendrick Perkins recorded a double-double with 11 points, grabbing 13 boards and he had 2 blocks. Rajon Rondo and Shelden Williams each score 10 points in the contest. The Pacers now have a record of 4-3 and will head to New Jersey to take on the Nets this Tuesday night. Boston now 8-3 will play host to the Golden State Warriors Wednesday.
