Usually, rookies don’t go on scoring binges (unless your name is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) and especially if you’re a rookie on the Milwaukee Bucks. The dateline was Saturday at the Bradley Center and the two teams were the Milwaukee Bucks and Golden State Warriors; both teams have a up-and-coming rookie, Stephen Curry for Golden State and Brandon Jennings for Milwaukee. no signs weren’t apparent, but the crowd at Bradley enjoyed a treat (two, actually) as Jennings broke a franchise rookie scoring record as he poured in 55 points (hence the Abdul-Jabbar reference). Milwaukee would need all of those points as they held on to edge Golden State 129-125.

Interestingly enough, Jennings didn’t score in the opening period; Stephen Jackson drained nine points as the Warriors held the lead throughout the first quarter, taking a 30-21 advantage into the second quarter. Jackson helped Golden State pad their lead further as he made a pair of free throws and a jumper, elevating their lead to thirteen at 36-23; a layup by Luc Richard Mbah a Moute with 54 seconds left in the half enabled Milwaukee to go into their locker room down by only eight at 57-49.

The Bucks, especially Jennings, would explode during the third quarter as Jennings exploited the Warriors for 29 points by himself – three more points than Golden State scored in the period. The Jennings offensive explosion would enable Milwaukee to take an 92-83 lead into the fourth quarter. Golden State would slowly reduce their deficit until Monta Ellis drained a three-pointer, giving them a 108-107 lead with 4:24 remaining in the game; Jennings would seal the deal for the Bucks with 10 seconds left as he converted a pair of free throws.

Jennings led the Bucks with 55 points (including 7 three-pointers), 5 rebounds and 5 assists while Andrew Bogut added 19 with 11 rebounds, 2 assists and a block; Charlie Bell scored 14 with 4 rebounds, 6 assists and a steal.

Ellis led all Warriors scorers with 26 points (including three 3-pointers), 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals while Corey Maggette added 25 with 5 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal; Jackson pitched in 21 with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Milwaukee (5-2) plays again on Monday when they host the Dallas Mavericks while Golden State (3-6) travels to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers Tuesday.

YOOOOOOO. Where did this cat come from? That was AMAZing tonight. He had like 15 straight pts in the 3rd quarter! Is he for real? or is this a one night wonder?

This is a strong rookie class! Brandon Jennings, Tyreke Evans, and Johnny Flynn are all looking very impressive already.

They said it was not a strong rookie class, but these guys are good.

Kobe, rest assured that Jennings is the real deal; however, I still stand by my prediction that barring anything that Blake Griffin does when he returns, the ROY will go to Tyreke Evans.

I have been watching Sacramento this year and btn Jason Thompson and Tyreke Evans they have the start of something. With Westhal the throwback coach I am pleasantly surprised with where this team is going… The Maloof brothers may finally be onto something.
