After eight years, many witnesses and enough lawyering to make Perry Mason cringe, the Jayson Williams case has finally reached a resolution. And compared to many cases like this one, let’s just say that Williams truly lucked out as according to the Associated Press, Williams has cut a plea deal which will send him to prison for up to three years for accidentally shooting a driver at his New Jersey estate back in 2002; this has been confirmed by a source with knowledge of the case.

The “source” also said that Williams will plead guilty to aggravated assault on Friday; because a gun was involved, Williams will be required to serve at least 18 months in prison. Williams, prior to this plea deal, was to face a retrial in January 2010 on reckless manslaughter count.
