You probably could hear the collective sigh of relief from out in LA-LAland as according to Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol will make his return when the team hosts the Chicago Bulls at Staples Center Thursday night.
According to Gasol, he will let coach Phil Jackson dictate his minutes on the floor, although Jackson said he’d be happy to get 25 minutes out of Gasol during the game. With Gasol starting, that will mean that Odom will once again come off the bench. Conditioning may or may not be an issue as I have no clue how Gasol spent his rehab time other than the requisite stuff that injured players go through. But that may a be a moot point of Jackson can coax 25 minutes out of Gasol – which is half a game to take some pressure off of Kobe Bryant.
