Knicks End Six-Game Losing Streak, Beat Pacers 110-103

The Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks hooked up at Conseco Fieldhouse Wednesday night as a pair of streaks were at stake; prior to this game, New York was looking to end a six-game losing streak while Indiana was riding a five-game winning streak of their own. And a former Pacer played no small part in the final outcome as al Harrington scored 13 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter, allowing New York to rally and defeat Indiana 110-103.

The first quarter was closely played as Indiana held the lead throughout although New York kept close, narrowing the Pacers’ lead to 26-25 going into the second quarter. Indiana would explode offensively as after the Knicks took their first lead of the game at 27-26, the Pacers would retake the lead on a Dahntay Jones jumper. Indiana would increase their lead to double-digits at the 5:18 mark on a three-pointer by Danny Granger; they would enjoy their largest lead at 16 when Jo0nes hit a jumper at the horn, giving the Pacers a 69-54 lead at halftime.

The Knicks would briefly cut their deficit down to nine on a Larry Hughes 3-pointer; however, Tyler Hansbrough’s three-point play gave Indiana its largest lead at 82-63. New York managed to reduce the Pacers’ lead to eight on a Harrington dunk with 12 seconds left in the third quarter and would go into the final 12 minutes down by ten at 86-76. Indiana would maintain a double-digit lead until a Hughes jumper cut the Pacers’ lead to nine at 95-86; New York would take the with 2:15 remaining in the game on a Harrington free throw. Indiana would briefly retake the lead 14 seconds later but Harrington would give the Knicks the lead for good on a pair of free throws with 1:16 left.

Harrington came off the bench to lead the Knicks in scoring with 26 points (including 4 three-pointers), 5 rebounds and a steal while Hughes added 22 (including three treys) with 10 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and a block; Wilson Chandler pitched in 18 with 5 rebounds, an assist and a block while David Lee scored 17 with 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 assists and a block.

Indiana was led by Granger with 33 points (including five 3-pointers), 7 rebounds and 3 assists while Jones added 25 with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks; Roy Hibbert notched a double-double, pouring in 14 with 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks. New York (2-9) plays again on Saturday when they go to IZOD Center to take on the New Jersey Nets while Indiana (5-4) hosts the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night.

    Great for Tyler Hansbrough for having 14 points, the most of his young career in the NBA. He was brilliant and his three-point play was amazing and the way he ran with other player last night was wonderful. Man, I didn’t know how fast he was. Look out Ty Lawson…
