Warriors Coach Nelson Ill With Pneumonia, Will Miss Time

While it is commonplace for a NBA player to miss time due to an illness, it is uncommon for an NBA coach to miss time for the same reason, yet according to Marcus Thompson II of the Oakland Tribune, Golden State Warriors coach Don Nelson will miss time with the team due to being stricken with pneumonia.

The team announced that Nelson will miss at least Tuesday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks and Wednesday’s contest against the San Antonio Spurs; he may miss Saturday’s tilt against the Los Angeles Lakers, as well. In the meantime, assistant coach Keith Smart will take over Nelson’s duties.
