Ellis Explodes For 45, Warriors Club Pacers 126-107

Monday night’s game between the Indiana Pacers and Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena was a homecoming of sorts for Pacers forward Mike Dunleavy as he played for the Warriors during his first four seasons in the NBA. Warriors coach Keith Smart has his squad playing inspired ball as of late with this game being no different; Monta Ellis exploded for 45 points while Golden State shot a sizzling 56.3% from floor, easily dismantling Indiana 126-107.
Ellis scored the Warriors’ final 16 points of the first quarter but the Pacers got a boost from Dahntay Jones and Danny Granger who combined for 13 points, allowing Indiana to take a 33-25 lead going into the second quarter. The Pacers would extend their lead to 14 points early in the second period but the Warriors chipped away and got to within 42-41 on an Anthony Morrow three-pointer with 4:58 left in the half; Dunleavy scored seven points down the stretch while Golden State went cold and as a result, Indiana would take a 57-51 lead at halftime.
Jeff Foster’s basket with 9:22 left in the third quarter put Indiana up 66-53 but Golden State would methodically chip away and would regain the lead at 85-83 on a Morrow jumper with 22 seconds left in the period. The Warriors would start the final quarter putting together a 12-2 run, capped by a 3-point play by Chris Hunter with9:41 remaining in the game; with 5:13 left, Corey Maggette drained a jumper, sealing the win for Golden State.
Ellis led the Warriors with a season-high 45 points, 5 rebounds, an assist and 5 steals but also committed 7 turnovers while Morrow and C.J. Watson each scored 18 – with Morrow making four 3-pointers, grabbing 6 rebounds, dishing out 2 assists along with 2 steals; Watson would grab 4 boards, dish out 6 assists along with 3 steals.
Granger and Dunleavy shared high scoring honors for the Pacers with 22 points each – with Granger grabbing 7 rebounds, dishing out 2 assists along with 2 steals and a block while Dunleavy grabbed 3 boards with 2 steals; Jones added 21 with 2 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a block while T.J. Ford chipped in 17 with 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block.
Golden State (6-10) plays again on Tuesday when they travel to Denver to take on the Nuggets while Indiana (6-9) makes the short trip on I-80 West to face the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.
