Pistons Pull Away As Sixers Come Up Short 90-86

Allen Iverson is now 0-2 in his second stint in a Philadelphia 76ers uniform and the Sixers have now lost 11 straight games as they fell Wednesday night to the Detroit Pistons 90-86. The opponents were knotted up at 86-86 with 8 seconds to play when Rodney Stuckey would make the shot giving Detroit the lead on what was the eventual winning hoop.
Stuckey would lead all players in scoring with 27 points as the Pistons won their third game in a row. Iverson has now played in two games for Philadelphia; both of which he faced a former team he had played on and lost them both. Andre Iguodala was the high scorer for the Sixers in the game with 18 points.
Both teams struggled offensively in the first quarter but the Pistons would be on top albeit by the slim margin of 18-16. Philadelphia would find their scoring touch some what more successfully in the second and they walked into the locker room at the half with the score deadlocked at 42-42.
Detroit started to put some distance between the tow clubs in the third as they would be ahead by 8 points late in the period. However Thaddeus Young drove the lane putting the ball up and in the cylinder as time expired and at the end of three complete the Pistons would hold a 67-63 lead. Philadelphia would have the momentum in the early part of the period grabbing a 73-69 advantage with 8:18 left to play as Elton Brand drove the lane and put the rock in the hole. However the lead would see-saw back and forth until Stuckey hit the shot that would lead to the Detroit win with 8 seconds left to play.
Rodney Stuckey had a game high 27 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 1 steal as he helped lead the Pistons charge. Rookie Jonas Jerebko recorded a double-double with 17 points, 10 boards and 2 assists while Jason Maxiell added 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Charlie Villanueva and Kwame Brown had 11 points each for the Pistons in the victory.
Andre Iguodala led the Sixers with 18 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Samuel Dalembert had a double-double with 17 points, 11 boards, 2 assists and 1 block while Elton Brand also put up 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks. Allen Iverson added 11 points, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block while Thaddeus Young scored 11 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal. Detroit now has a record of 9-12 and will host Denver Thursday night while Philadelphia has dropped to 5-17 and will play host to Houston on Friday.
