Mavericks Turn Hot Start Into Win As They Maul Miami 106-93
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Game Recap

The Association is filled with games that are not decided until the final few seconds; the game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat Friday night would not fall into that category. Actually this was a game that was decided realistically at the end of the first quarter. The Mavericks would pull out to a healthy lead in the first 12 minutes and the Heat never really recovered in the remaining 36 as Dallas would win in a rout 106-93.
Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki led his club with 25 points while center Erick Dampier recorded a double-double with 20 points and 17 boards in the win. Dwyane Wade would lead all players as the Heat All-Star guard dropped 28 points in the loss while Udonis Haslem came in off the bench and added 22 more. Miami was still without center Jermaine O’Neal who has left the team due to a death in the family.
Dallas pretty much set the tone for the balance of the night in the first as they would end the period leading 30-18. Miami was able to shave some off the lead during the second quarter but as the contest reached the half the Mavericks would head into the locker room on top 53-46.
Miami lost what ever momentum they had going for them in the third quarter as Dallas would head into the fourth with their lead back to double digits with the score 84-73. The Heat never got close enough in the final 12 minutes to pose any sort of threat.
Dirk Nowitzki had 25 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block while Erick Dampier would record a double-double as he scored 20 points, 17 boards and 2 blocks. Jason Terry came off the bench with 16 points, 4 assists, 1 rebound and 1 steal. Jose Juan Barea had a double-double with 12 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals while Shawn Marion would also contribute 12 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist.
Dwyane Wade would lead all players as he also had a double-double as he scored 28 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 block and 1 steal while Udonis Haslem came off the bench with 22 points and had 10 boards. Michael Beasley would be the third Miami player with a double-double as he had 16 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists while Mario Chalmers added 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
