I must say that it is a good thing that the Toronto Raptors have some depth at point guard, although it doesn’t comfort the team any knowing that according to Mike Ganter of the Toronto Sun, starting point guard Jose Calderon aggravated a nagging hip injury and may be out for quite some time.
He underwent some diagnostic testing on Friday after the game against the Atlanta Hawks to check on the severity of the aggravation; he checked in for Jarrett Jack and the hip aggravation happened around the 7:30 mark of the second quarter. In two previous games when Calderon was inactive because of the sore hip, Jack started, with Marcus Banks and Marco Belinelli.
While Calderon tries to recover, Jack probably will start and then the decision as to who his backup will be will be interesting. Again, the Raptors, while hit with Calderon’s absence, are fortunate to have some depth at the 1.
