It takes talent to score points  in the NBA all it takes to play defense is effort and desire. Every player that has worn an NBA uniform knows that statement to be true but for many players ending up on “SportsCenter” is a lot more appealing than a victory. That is not the case with the Boston Celtics who won their tenth straight game Saturday night as they went to the United Center in Chicago and beat up the Bulls 106-80.

Earlier in their winning streak the Celtics were winning games with their offense as they had a string of games when they shot over 50% from the floor. Saturday night they won the contest on the defensive end limiting Chicago to shooting just 32.6% (30-92) from the floor. Boston was certainly not deficient on the offensive side of the ledger either as they had seven players score in double  figures and two who recorded double-doubles. Point guard Rajon Rondo led the Celtics with 16 points while Bulls point guard Derrick Rose led all players with 19 points.

Chicago put up a fight early in the game but the longer the game  progressed  the larger the Boston lead became. The Celtics would hold a  slim lead of 29-26 at the end of the first. However they were able  to increase their advantage in the second quarter and would be on top 54-46 as the game reached the half.

A combination of strong defense from the Celtics and inept offense  from the Bulls would hand  this game over to Boston in the second half.  The Celtics ended the game all but formally by the end of the third as they led 83-63. Chicago would never get within hailing distance in the last 12  minutes of the game.

Rajon Rondo recorded a double-double with 16 points, 14 assists, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block  in the Celtics victory. Rasheed Wallace and Eddie House both had strong games off the bench as they each scored 15 points. Paul Pierce had 14 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 steal while Kevin Garnett had a double-double including 12 points, 10 boards, 2 assists and 1 block. Ray Allen and Kendrick Perkins each added 10 points in the win.

Derrick Rose led all players with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block and 1 steal while Luol Deng added 17 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block.  Taj Gibson recorded a double-double as he scored 12 points, grabbed 11 boards, 2 blocks, 2 steals and 1 assist. Brad Miller and Jannero Pargo each added 11 points in the loss. Boston now has a record of 19-4 and will next play on Tuesday in Memphis as they go up against the Grizzlies. Chicago falls to 8-14 and will host the Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday.
