LBJ Scores 44 And Cavaliers Stifle Thunders Roar In 102-89 Win!
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Game Recap

Sunday night as the Cleveland Cavaliers played in the Ford Center in Oklahoma City taking on the Thunder they would have just two players who would score in double figures for the game. Now fortunately one of those players happened to be the reigning NBA MVP LeBron James and he scored nearly half his teams points. “The Chosen One“ would ring up his season high scoring 44 points and the Cavaliers handily defeated Oklahoma City by a final score of 102-89. Cleveland point guard Mo Williams added 22 points while Kevin Durant had 29 points and Jeff Green put up 26 more for the Thunder.
Oklahoma City has gotten some great young talent via the NBA Daft over the last couple of years and things seem to be turning around under head coach Scottie Brooks who is in his first full season at the helm. Brooks earned his stripes last year as an interim head coach and the Thunder players seem to be responding to his methods as the team is above the .500 mark. If the Thunder played in the Eastern Conference they would be in the thick of the Playoff race; however they most likely will fall short of that in the Western Conference.
Oklahoma City would have the advantage through out the first half taking a razor thin 29-27 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Thunder would widen their margin during the second and would be on top as the game reached the half with the score 54-49.
The Cavaliers returned to the floor in the third displaying greater intensity of both sides of the court and would take the lead at the end of the quarter by the same slim margin that OKC had after the first this time the score being 78-76. However Cleveland would shut the Thunder offense down in the fourth allowing them only 13 points and getting the victory.
LeBron James led all players as he scored 44 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 1 block. Mo Williams was the only other Cleveland player in double figures as he had 22 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 1 steal in the Cavaliers victory.
Kevin Durant dropped 29 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists and 1 block while Jeff Green added another 26 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block. Russell Westbrook had 10 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds in the loss. Cleveland improves to 17-7 and will host the New Jersey Nets Tuesday while Oklahoma City has a 12-10 record and will play Monday in Denver taking on the Nuggets.
