Posted by Stephen Rhodes under NBA Game Recap

If Tim Duncan had played his usual 32-38 minutes a night during Sunday night’s game between the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center, his numbers would have been quite impressive. Because he was accidentally elbowed in the head by teammate Matt Bonner late in the third quarter, he wouldn’t return. It would turn out that they wouldn’t need him. The Spurs shot 57.3% from the floor and led by as many as 30 points. As a result, San Antonio made short work of Los Angeles 115-90.
The Spurs, over a span of 8:03, built a double-digit lead of 24-14 on a Manu Ginobili three-pointer and would take a 16-point lead going into the second quarter. Ginobili would drain another trey with 8:29 left in the half, allowing San Antonio to build a 51-28 advantage; Los Angeles did manage to whittle their deficit down to 11 on an Al Thornton dunk with 30 seconds left in the period. A free throw by Baron Davis made it 66-56 at halftime.
The third quarter was nip-and-tuck insofar as San Antonio maintaining their double-digit lead through most of the period; a DeJuan Blair layup at the horn would enable the Spurs to take a 88-75 lead into the final 12 minutes. San Antonio would break the game wide open as they manufactured a 16-0 run, capped by a Roger Mason 3-pointer, which would put them up for good at 107-79.
Six Spurs scored in double-digits, led by Duncan with 21 points, 3 rebounds and a block while Richard Jefferson and Ginobili added 17 each – with Jefferson grabbing 4 rebounds, dishing out 3 assists along with a block while Ginobili drained 4 three-pointers, grabbed 3 rebounds, dished out 3 assists along with a steal and a block.
