Celtics Shoot Down Timberwolves In 122-104 Drubbing!
Posted by Jeff Sack under NBA Game Recap

Twelve young men from Minnesota flew to Boston to spend what they expected to be an enjoyable afternoon in one of our Nation’s historic cities. Well it did not turn out to be a pleasant experience in the least as they were beaten up by a group of tough guys from Boston who even stole their lunch money in the process!
Now if this incident had taken place on the street the young men from Boston would be in all sorts of hot water; however considering it happened inside the “New Garden” and the guys from Boston were the Celtics all was good. Boston scored their largest point total of the season Sunday as they defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 122-104. Paul Pierce had a game high 29 points and they had 7 players in double figures and 2 with double-doubles. Rookie point guard Jonny Flynn led the T-Wolves with 21 points in the loss.
Boston dominated this game from the start and built up such a large lead in the first half they literally were able to coast through the second half of the game. The Celtics came out firing on all cylinders in the opening period while Minnesota was stuck in neutral. When the smoke cleared Boston was leading 34-19 and the game could easily have been stopped there as the T-Wolves never seemed to regain their composure. The game became a certified “NBA Blow-Out” in the second as the Celtics would head into the locker room at the half leading 66-41.
The second half was truly nothing but 24 minutes of extended garbage time as no Boston starter played more than 34 minutes in the game and Kevin Garnett played just 28 minutes for the night. Minnesota would be able to knock off 7 points from the Celtics half time lead to make the final score a bit more respectable.
Paul Pierce had a game high 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the Celtics victory. Ray Allen scored 20 points, 1 assist and 1 rebound while Tony Allen in his fifth game since returning from the injured list came off the bench with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block and 1 steal. Kendrick Perkins had a double-double as he put up 14 points, 11 boards, 3 assists and 3 blocks while Rajon Rondo also had a double-double as he added 13 points, 15 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds. Kevin Garnett and Rasheed Wallace each contributed 10 points in the win.
Jonny Flynn looks more and more comfortable in the Association with every game he plays in his rookie campaign. He would lead the team with 21 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Al Jefferson had a double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 1 steal while Damien Wilkins scored 18 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks and 1 steal.
