Andrew Bogut 12.21a

Andrew Bogut recorded a double-double Monday night as the Milwaukee Bucks went to Conseco Fieldhouse and slipped by the Indiana Pacers 84-81. The Bucks center had a game high and for him a career high of 31 points and grabbed 18 boards in the victory. Michael Redd and rookie Brandon Jennings also scored in double figures for Milwaukee.

Pacers center Roy Hibbert led his club with 16 while forward Troy Murphy also had a double-double and Pacers rookie former UNC star Tyler Hansbrough would also score in double figures in the loss. The victory ended a three game losing streak and was the club’s first win on the road since before Thanksgiving.

Both teams came out looking like they were still mentally in the locker room in the first quarter as the Bucks would hold a 19-16 advantage at the end of the period. The Pacers would find their offense in the second quarter however Milwaukee seemed like they needed a road map to find the basket during the period. The Pacers would head into the locker room at the half on top 43-36.

What ever Bucks coach Scott Skiles said in the locker room at the half must have been pretty inspiring for his team to hear for they awoke from their coma upon their return to the court in third. Milwaukee picked up their intensity on both ends of the floor and it paid off as they would have the lead at the end of the quarter although it was slim at 65-63.

With 2:09 remaining it was a one point game with Milwaukee clinging to a 77-76 advantage; that is when young Mr. Jennings showed why his name is sure to  be mentioned prominently when it comes time to talk about NBA Rookie Of The Year. With 1:52 to play  Jennings drained a trey from 26 feet out making it an 80-76 contest.

Tyler Hansbrough responded by knocking down a shot 4 feet from the basket putting the score at 80-78. With 1:13 to play Bucks forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute hit a hoop giving his team a little breathing room with the score 82-78. Dahntay Jones went 1-2 at the line making it an 82-79 game and then with 28 seconds to play Jennings made the back breaker giving his club the lead at 84-79 and the Pacers could not get back over the hump as Milwaukee held on for the win.

Andrew Bogut had a double-double with a game high 31 points, 18 boards, 3 assists, 3 blocks and 1 steal. The rookie Jennings scored 16 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals  and 1 block while the veteran Michael Redd added 14 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.

Pacers center Roy Hibbert was the team’s scoring leader in this game as he knocked down 16 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and 1 steal. Troy Murphy had a double-double with 14 points, 12 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block while Tyler Hansbrough had a nice game  off the bench with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. Milwaukee improves to 12-14 and will host the Wizards Wednesday while Indiana now is 9-17 and will be in Boston Tuesday to take on the Celtics.
