Gasol Inks Extension With Lakers

I think that anyone who follows the NBA and the Los Angeles Lakers already knew that the possibility of forward Pau Gasol re-signing with the team was likely. The Lakers earlier on Wednesday, as reported by the Associated Press. signed the 7-footer to a three-year extension, which will keep him in Los Angeles until the 2013-14 season and could be worth more than $60 million depending on future salary caps.

As most of us already know, team owner Dr. Jerry Buss – unlike the vast majority of NBA team owners – likes to spend well above the league salary cap, and the Gasol extension solidifies that belief. Gasol, at the press conference which announced his extension, said that he believes that Kobe Bryant intends to sign an extension relatively soon.
