Knee Ailment To Sideline Pierce

Paul Pierce

As if the Boston Celtics need anyone else hurting right now, one of their star players will be unavailable as Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Paul Pierce is expected to miss about two weeks due to having a minor procedure on his right knee Wednesday.

He was diagnosed with an infection in the knee after Tuesday’s win over the Indiana Pacers and underwent a 20-minute arthroscopic irrigation to drain and clean the affected knee. Celtics president Danny Ainge said that there was no structural damage to Pierce’s knee, adding:

“You’re always concerned when someone is hurt. But hopefully, they took care of it and it’s all done. …We expect Paul to be fine.

“It anybody’s guess when he will return. I don’t know. Maybe sooner rather than later.”
