On the vast majority of nights, you’re not going to see Dwyane Wade hit that many three-pointers. As a matter of fact, he ranks next-to-last in 3-point accuracy, so going behind the arc is obviously not a big part of his game.
Until the Indiana Pacers visited American Airlines Arena to take on the Miami Heat.
While the Heat shot a scorching 56.3%, Wade put up his usual numbers. But D-Wade went one better: he drained four treys. That contribution at least a small part in Miami’s destruction of Indiana 113-83.
The Heat got hot early as they scored the game’s first nine points and Wade got hot, as well. He shot 7-for-8 in the first quarter and would have 25 by halftime. Speaking of halftime, Miami would roar to a sizable 62-43 lead after 24 minutes.
How bad were things for Indiana? Wade, as if he wasn’t shooting lights-out already, was lucky as well as he was credited for a three-pointer because of a goaltending call assessed to Troy Murphy. The second faux pas was when the Pacers were trailing the Heat 63-46; Brandon Rush had drained a trey earlier in the game, but during a timeout with 5:34 left in the third quarter, the officials determined that Rush’s shot was after the 24-second clock expired. The game was settled when Rafer Alston hit a 3 with 14 ticks left on the game clock in the third period.
Wade led the Heat with 32 points (including four treys), 3 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks while Michael Beasley added 21 with 10 rebounds, an assist and a steal.
The Pacers were led by Rush with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and a block while Dahntay Jones added 13 with 4 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal.
Miami (21-19) now travels to Charlotte to take on the Bobcats Wednesday while Indiana (14-27) makes the short trip to Orlando to take on the Magic – also on Wednesday night.
