The “Amazing Journey” that the Oklahoma City Thunder have been on in this NBA Campaign hit the All-Star break on Tuesday night as they defeated the Portland Trail Blazers in the Rose Garden by a final score of 89-77. The victory was the sixth straight by the Thunder who were led once again by Kevin Durant with a double-double including a game high 33 points.

Oklahoma City heads into the All-Star break sitting in the sixth seed with a record of 30-21 far beyond the wildest optimistic predictions for the young talented group. Andre Miller led the way for Portland with 22 points who  once again were without All-Star guard Brandon Roy who has a sore right hamstring. The Blazers have lost two straight and are 4-6 in their last 10 games.

Oklahoma City would dominate the first and would hold a 23-17 advantage as the period concluded. Portland would respond in the second in kind and as the contest reached the half the two teams would enter the locker room with the score deadlocked at 41-41.

The game would remain close through the third quarter and the Trail Blazers would grasp the lead with 29 seconds left in the period when the veteran Miller drained a mid-range jumper. Portland would have the slim advantage as the two teams went into the fourth on top 61-59. Oklahoma City would open up the final 12 minutes of play with a 15-2 run taking a 74-63 lead and the Blazers never recovered.

Kevin Durant recorded a double-double with a game high 33 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist. Jeff Green scored 17 points, 4 steals, rebounds and 1 block while James Harden added 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block.

Andre Miller had 22 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds and 1 block while LaMarcus Aldridge had a double-double 15 points, 15 boards, 4 assists, 4 steals and 1 block. Dante Cunningham came off the bench with 14 points while Nicholas Batum getting the start in lieu of Roy added 12 points in the loss. Oklahoma City will play next Tuesday as they host the Dallas Mavericks while Portland with a record of 30-24 will play in Phoenix Wednesday night taking on the Suns before the All-Star break.
