The NBA owner is a peculiar bird, especially when it involves trade rumors. Depending on the owner of record, you’ll usually get a half-truth or a flat-out denial.
Mickey Arison, owner of the Miami Heat, is claiming that forward Michael Beasley is not being shopped by the team, despite the media insinuations, according to The Sporting News.
According to Arison in a piece at the Miami Herald, “We’ve never put him out there. I know I’ve read about him being put out there. I can tell you this: We have not put him out there. The media has. We like Michael and see him as a part of our core going forward.”
While he hasn’t named any specific deals that he’s discussed with other teams, he did say that “there are a lot of interesting things going on.” Arison also added that if the Heat don’t do any trading, they will have flexibility over the summer as they’ll have some expiring contracts coming off the team’s books.
