The trading deadline is this Thursday, and while the Dallas Mavericks and Washington consummated a trade this weekend, attention as of late has turned to where Phoenix Suns forward Amare Stoudemire might relocate to.
Cleveland seems to have the inside track, based on information from sources claiming that the Cavaliers and Suns are in serious negotiations about a deal that would send Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson to Phoenix for Stoudemire.
Apparently, those reports seem to have some teams sweetening offers to obtain the Suns’ big man.
The Philadelphia 76ers, while interested, are hesitant to let go their best player, Andre Iguodala. Meanwhile, the Miami Heat has been pursuing Stoudemire; however, they don’t have much to offer Phoenix – other than Dwyane Wade – in a trade, so it would have to be a three-team scenario for something of that platitude to take place.
So folks, there’s 4 days left, and I do expect Stoudemire to land somewhere. Although to be honest, I’m not convinced that trading Stoudemire is a great idea as the Suns are still in playoff contention. But I suspect that the Suns’ braintrust knows something that I don’t.
The Stoudemire situation aside, I expect more trade rumors involving other NBA teams and players to take place between now and the trade deadline. Stay tuned to Slam Dunk Central for the most up-to-date developments on the trade front.
