The Toronto Raptors, mindful of the fact that they won’t retain Chris Bosh, are rumored to be close to signing a “mid-level” free agent, according to the Toronto Star’s Doug Smith and verified by Raptors HQ.
Some of the rumored names mentioned in these discussions are:
- Ryan Gomes of Minnesota
- Matt Barnes and J.J. Redick of Orlando
- Ronnie Brewer of Memphis
- Shannon Brown of the Lakers
Raptors HQ seems to like the opportunity to sign Josh Childress of Atlanta instead. It seems to me that since the Raptors have lost Bosh, they may want to get a big man to use the mid-level on. I
I’m not convinced that a guard – point or shooting – is what the Raptors need right now.
